Denkmal ISBN 9789080842434 [III] is part of the series of “Denkmal” publications.  The title itself places the work amidst the Belgian artist’s critically renowned sculptural installations, which he also titles “Denkmal,” borrowing the German word for monument.   A 650-page compendium of images and texts, Denkmal ISBN 9789080842434 [III] capitalizes on the sequential nature of the book to produce a monument to modern history that is cinematic in nature and epic in scope.

Jan De Cock’s “Denkmal” installations have been exhibited at Henry Van de Velde library in Ghent (2004), the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt (2005) Tate Modern in London (2005),  the Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich (August-October, 2006), Casa del Fascio in Como, Italy (October, 2006) and the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2008).
