Blake Rayne
Almanac

Artist's Book

As with all the ‘a’ works, this book can be seen as a distillation of ideas, processes and techniques inherent within different formats of cultural production.

Blake’s ‘a’ line project originates from a file generated in screen space, which is then output into different display formats (i.e. painting, book, stool…). Using felt’s inherent tacto-texto-experiential interactivity, Almanac shifts the book’s focus away from legibility and visuality, toward a textile-textual-textile experience. With the book’s completion, a circuit of translation processes for this ‘a’ file is now complete.
